Business Idea EnNatura has developed and commercialized an eco-friendly printing ink system, based on renewable feedstock, which is completely emission free. The printing ink system reduces emissions by 95% and reduces the total operating costs of the printer by 10-15%, thus solving the greater environmental pain at an economic price point.
The team at EnNatura consists of Siddhartha K. Bhimania, Krishna Gopal Singh, Sandeep Mourya (B. Tech, Chemical Engineering, and IIT Delhi) and Dr. Ashok N. Bhaskarwar (Professor, IIT Delhi). They are the first generation entrepreneurs with solid engineering background and combined product development experience of more than a decade.
They are supported by a world class advisory board and investors who have extensive expertise in the specialty chemicals and clean materials industry.
Social and Environmental Impact Offset printing industry consumes around 200 million tons of paper which makes its way to land fills post consumption. It also emits 500,000 Tons of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emissions which are a health hazard for around 2-3 million printing press workers globally and are also responsible for smog formation and ozone depletion.
EnNatura's inks reduce the eco-footprint of printing in the following way:
- At the printing press level, by reducing the VOC emissions by 95-99 %
- At the post consumer paper level, as paper printed from EnNatura's inks has dramatically better recyclability.
Current status and Expansion Plans - To market ink technology to the leading ink companies under geographically exclusive technology licenses, targeted at global resin market.
- Commercial pilots for ink commercialization are being done in NCR to achieve mass deployment and to significantly enhance the 'fair market value' of the technology licenses.
Funding Requirements EnNatura expects to raise $ 2 million (Rs. 10 crores) in financing over next 12-18 months to fund production scale-up, international business development and IP development.
