Later, he joined the Thermax Group, starting in the boiler division. From Chemicals to Boilers to Energy Systems, the challenges turned him into an able leader and planner. He established marketing channels and international markets in 13 countries, besides heading an operational team of 800 people. As the Executive Vice President and a key Executive Council member of the company, he was responsible for strategy formulation of the company's four core businesses.

In Chiron, he has handled more than 10 different accounts in Chemical/ Engineering/ Construction/ Rubber & Auto components to develop long term strategies for growth & turnaround. Rahul formed India investment advisory, Clearstone Venture Advisors, in 2005. Based in Mumbai, he is responsible for identifying early stage companies that will capitalize on the growth in domestic consumer services including wireless, media, entertainment, retail, travel and finance. Having recently relocated to India from Silicon Valley, he has leveraged his cross-border operating experience and industry relationships to lay the foundation for our investments in India.

Prior to joining Clearstone, Rahul was Area Director Asia-Pacific at Sonim Technologies, a wireless start-up in San Mateo. Having joined Sonim during its inception, he was responsible for the company's global marketing and sales initiatives including key markets like China and India. Before Sonim Technologies, he managed strategic alliances and partnerships at Airflash, a location based services provider that was acquired by the location based services market leader Webraska in 2001.

Prior to moving to the US, Rahul helped launch India's first mobile operator 'Orange', a subsidiary of Hutchison Telecom. During his time at Orange in the mid-nineties, he served in several marketing management functions at Orange including leading the team responsible for customer acquisition and retention programs in India as well as developing entry and growth strategies for Orange in Singapore and Israel.

Rahul earned an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University in Illinois.

Yogesh joined CRISIL as it's Head of SME Ratings when the organization was establishing its SME Rating business - since then CRISIL has rated more than 7500 enterprises and has spread its network to all the parts of the country. Yogesh has over 18 years of experience in the field of SME financing, SME rating & promotion. He holds post-graduate degree in Engineering and Management. He is an Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). In the past Yogesh has worked with SBI Capital Markets Ltd, Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro & Small Industries (CGTMS), SIDBI and NABARD. He has rich experience in appraising and financing of Small and Medium Enterprises / Agriculture Projects and Credit Insurance for SMEs in India. He was the key member of the team which established CGTMSE under the aegis of SIDBI and Ministry of MSME. He has interacted with the SME Industry Associations in the clusters, promotional agencies of the government and the regulatory authorities for a long time in the arena of SSI financing.

Pavan Sukhdev is a Managing Director in the Global Markets division of Deutsche Bank AG, based in London, having joined this division in India in 1994. His assignments have included building a leading financial markets business for the bank in India, managing the Bank's money markets trading and liquidity across Asia-Pacific, being COO for the Bank's Asian Global Markets business from Singapore, and being COO for the Bank's global Emerging Markets business based in London. His current assignment is as Head of Business Process Re-engineering for the new Global Markets division, the Bank's combined Debt and Equity division. Pavan is an experienced trader and structurer of currency, interest rate, and credit products. Before Deutsche Bank, he worked for 11 years at ANZ Grindlays, across India and in London.

Pavan was deeply involved in the evolution of India's currency & interest rate markets from 1993 to 1998, especially derivatives. He was a member of several RBI committees for the development of markets - Foreign Exchange markets (Sodhani Committee), Debt Markets (YV Reddy) and commodities markets (RV Gupta). He was a co-founder of FIMMDA, India's professionals association for fixed income markets, money markets and derivatives. He pioneered the introduction into India of an 'Overnight Index Swap' (OIS), now India's most liquid interest rate derivatives instrument.

Pavan has been appointed "Study Leader" for the so called Potsdam Initiative (G8+5 Env Ministers) global study on the Economics of Ecosystem Degradation and Biodiversity Loss. This report intends to for Ecosystem and Biodiversity what the "Stern Review" did for Climate Change. The interim report was presented at the 9th Conference of Parties (COP-9) of the Convention for Biological Diversity at Bonn on 29th of May, 2008.

Pavan pursues his interest in environmental protection in India as a Board member of the Bombay Environmental Action Group (BEAG), India, since 1998. He also set up a model rainforest restoration and eco-tourism project in Queensland, Australia.

Arjun Uppal is currently Head of New Businesses with Hariyali Kisaan Bazaar. This is an initiative of DSCL (DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd). Prior to that he was the CEO of IFMR Trust, and Advisor to ICICI Bank on Rural credit. Arjun was with Hindustan Lever from 1983-2002 in various capacities. He was General Manager, Animal Feeds when he left HLL to join Mother Dairy as CEO. He spent 18 months with Mother Dairy, two years as CEO - Agri Inputs for PI industries before joining ICICI Bank.

Arjun is one of the leading experts on rural India and his work with various facets of rural businesses has given him a lot of exposure to the challenges of building scalable solutions that will work for the masses in an urban as well as rural setting.

Arjun is a Chartered Accountant and graduated from St. Stephens College with a B.A. ( Hons) in economics.

Sanjeev Krishnan joined GEF's Emerging Markets team in 2006, bringing his extensive investment experience in India and China. He helps lead GEF's sourcing, execution and portfolio efforts throughout Asia, with a focus in India.

Mr. Krishnan has spent the last several years working on growth equity investments in India and China. Before joining GEF, he co-founded the IFC's life science practice, which focused on investing in life science opportunities in the emerging markets, primarily in India and China. He earlier worked with JP Morgan in London and Johannesburg.

Bindu Ananth worked with ICICI Bank in its microfinance practice between 2001 and 2005 and was Head of the new product development group within the bank's rural finance business in 2007.

She founded the Centre for Microfinance, IFMR, and has published in the Small Enterprise Development Journal, the Economic and Political Weekly, the OECD working paper series and the IFMR working paper series.

Ms.Anita Marangoly George joined the World Bank in 1991 as a Young Professional and worked on infrastructure in Europe and Central Asia. She joined the Global Infrastructure Department of IFC in Washington DC as Principal Investment Officer in 2000. Ms. George has implemented infrastructure transactions in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Her experience includes a stint with Siemens where she headed Siemens Financial Services in India covering the Telecom, Power and Transportation sectors.

Ms. George has a dual Masters in Business Administration and Economic Policy from Boston University, USA. She is on the board of Mahindra Infrastructure Developers Limited and BASIX.

Dhananjay has over 19 years of experience in private equity investing, managing primary and secondary market investments, and developing technology product strategies and services internationally. Mr Debashish Majumdar, is a professional Engineer and holds a B.Tech Degree in Electrical Engineering (1976) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Mr Majumdar has worked in both private and public sector and has rich experience of more than 31 years in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Mr Majumdar has been with the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) for over ten years and presently heads the organization as its Chairman & Managing Director. IREDA is a unique financial institution set up by the Government of India for financing projects related to renewable energy and energy efficiency on a commercial basis. Currently he is spearheading promotion and development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in the private sector through appropriate financing mechanisms.

Dr. Saurabh Srivastava is one of India's leading IT entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists. He has founded or been an angel investor in almost 50 companies, one of which, Xansa, was listed on the London stock exchange and had revenues of around US $800 mn, till it was acquired by Steria.

Srini Vudayagiri is a Venture Director at Lightspeed Advisory Services India, based in Bangalore, advising the firm's investment efforts in India. Srini has over sixteen years of venture capital and private equity experience in India.

Prior to Lightspeed, Srini was Director at Thomas Weisel International, Mumbai, where he was responsible for their asset management operations in India. Prior to that, Srini was Associate Director, South Asia of Intel Capital based in India. As the senior member of Intel Capital's operations, Srini played a significant role in establishing Intel Capital as one of the leading and most active technology investors in India.

Srini was one of the founding team members of CDC Operations in South India (before the operations became ACTIS, following a management buyout). While at CDC, Srini played a significant role in their investments in the power, telecom and technology sectors.

Prior to Nexus, Sandeep has been an entrepreneur and was co-founder and CEO of Medusind Solutions, one of the leading healthcare outsourcing companies in India where he is currently a Board member. He was also co-founder and Managing Director of eVentures India, started in 1999 to focus on incubating and investing in early stage Indian start ups. At eVentures, Sandeep invested in CustomerAsset (acquired by Firstsource), Mentorix Solutions (acquired by Lionbridge), Intigma (acquired by Emptoris), and MakeMyTrip (sale to SAIF Partners). Rajesh represents Siemens Venture Capital in India. Rajesh handles all venture capital related inquiries in India, working out of Mumbai and Bangalore.

Since joining Siemens in 1992, Rajesh has held a wide variety of roles in areas like Finance, Marketing and Business Development and Engineering.

Prior to joining SVC in 2005, he was Senior Manager, Finance, with Siemens Ltd, India. Before that he held various positions, first in engineering and then in marketing and business development with Automation and Control group of Siemens.

Rajesh graduated from Mumbai University with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1991 and later received his Masters in Finance from the same university.

Mr. Sehgal has 20 years of leadership experience in strategy, operations and investments in technology related businesses. He currently heads technology and renewable energy initiatives at SUN, and has led SUN's comprehensive analysis of the Indian clean technology space, fostering close relationships within the governmental, business and entrepreneur communities in the sector.

Earlier, he was with McKinsey & Company, where he counseled senior management and boards of leading global companies in the energy, retail, telecommunications, software and consumer product sectors on broad ranging business issues including corporate strategy, operations, product commercialization, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and turnarounds.

Mr. Sehgal was also Managing Director of Quark, a $300 million software company, where he managed an organization of 1600 employees across Asia Pacific. Earlier he served as Vice President at the world's leading supply chain management and logistics company, i2 Technologies, and has held a number of management positions with Kraft Foods.

Mr. Sehgal received an MBA with distinction from the Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern University (Jane Robertson Scholar). He also received an M.S. with distinction in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago and a B.S. in Physics Honors from Delhi University.

Mr. Sehgal has co-authored several books and is a frequent speaker at clean technology forums. He is on the advisory board of the Indian Cleantech Forum; on the Steering Committee of New Ventures India, a leading clean technology accelerator; and on the Steering Committee of Indian Green Building Council.

Somak Ghosh , 37, Country Head, Infrastructure - Advisory and Finance , has a MBA Degree in Finance from FMS Delhi and B.E Chemical Engineering from University of Mumbai. He joined YES BANK LTD on July 23, 2004. He is presently the Country Head - Infrastructure Advisory and Finance Department. His current responsibilities include setting up the entire Infrastructure Banking Practice working in conjunction with other relevant Product teams within the Bank. In addition to this he is also responsible for the Credit Risk of the entire lending portfolio of the Bank.

He is also a key member of our Responsible Banking initiative. He is a Member of our ALCO and the Credit Approval Committee. He is a member of various industry associations, key amongst being the FICCI, CII and Bombay Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining YES BANK LTD., he was a senior executive with Rabo India and has previously worked in various capacities in India and Europe in leading organizations like ICICI Ltd, Reliance Industries and Ispat Europe.

Pradip P. Shah started IndAsia, a Corporate Finance and Private Equity Advisory business in April 1998. IndAsia entered into a joint venture with AMP in 2001 for the private equity business in India. Prior to starting IndAsia, he helped establish the Indocean Fund in 1994 in association with affiliates of Chase Capital Partners and Soros Fund Management.

Before starting Indocean, he was the founder Managing Director of The Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited (CRISIL), India's first and largest credit rating agency. While at CRISIL, Mr. Shah was instrumental in technology transfer to, and the training of personnel of, Rating Agency Malaysia Berhad and The Israeli Securities Rating Company. He has been honored in Israel with a garden of a hundred trees in his name.

Prior to founding CRISIL, Mr. Shah assisted in founding Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) in 1977. Before joining HDFC, Mr. Shah was a Project Officer at ICICI Limited. Mr. Shah has also served as a Consultant to USAID, The World Bank and The Asian Development Bank.

Mr. Shah is currently a Director of Asset Reconstruction Company (India) Limited, BASF (India) Limited, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Limited, Hardy Oil and Gas Limited (U.K.), Grindwell Norton Limited, Kansai Nerolac Paints, Panasonic Battery India Company Limited, Mukand Limited, Patni Computer Systems Limited, Pfizer Limited and Wartsila India Limited amongst other companies. He is currently a member of the Expert Committee, Public Sector Restructuring Programme, Government of Gujarat, the Chairman of the Capital Markets Committee of the Indian Merchants' Chamber, Member of the National Executive Committee of FICCI, was a Director on the Western Region Board of the Reserve Bank of India, was the first Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry's Financial Sector Committee and has served as a member of the Finance Commission of the State Government of Gujarat; of the Expert Group on Infrastructure Financing appointed by the Government of India; of the Advisory Board of the Bureau of State Public Enterprises, Government of Maharashtra; of the CII National Task Force on Non-Performing Assets; of the SEBI Committee on Venture Capital; of the SIDBI Working Group on Access to Capital Markets for Small Industries; and of the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board Task Force on Policy and Implementation. Mr. Shah holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sydenham College, Bombay. He is a qualified Cost Accountant and ranked first in India in the Chartered Accountancy examinations.

Nitin is the founding member of the structured Private Equity practice at Kotak Group and has played the pivotal role in building this business. With over 19 years of experience in Venture Capital (VC) & Private Equity (PE) investing, Nitin has seen the growth of the VC and PE space from being a mere nomenclature to being one of the most preferred financing vehicles in the country today. Nitin's uncanny ability to identify trends and leaders in their infancy and helping them realize their potential has been the hallmark of his career. He has lead and managed investments in over 60 companies, a significant number of which have grown at a scorching pace attaining leadership position in their respective sectors.

Prior to taking up the current assignment at Kotak in June 2004, Nitin was Director with SEAF, a US headquartered Venture Capital fund before it joined hands with Kotak and the founding member of the India Team of Dresdner Kleinwort Capital when it started operations in India in June 2001. Prior to joining Dresdner, Nitin had a long stint of over 12 years with ICICI Venture, the PE and VC arm of the ICICI Group from its inception in 1989 to being its Chief of Private Equity Investments heading its funding and investment management activities of various Funds, till the early part of this decade.

During his association with ICICI Venture he led its investment strategy in Life Sciences (Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology), Media/Entertainment and Retailing Industries achieving high returns for its investors by investing in these sectors much ahead of competition.

Nitin started his career with a 3.5 year stint at CIPLA, India's second largest pharmaceutical company in various technical and management positions.

Nitin also has a strong association with Pharmaceutical and Biotech Industry in the country, having served as The Director General of Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE), the leading industry association of biotech companies in India and having worked with CIPLA. He continues to be an active member of the Executive Council of ABLE besides being a member of several Committees set up by the Central /State Governments and other apex industry associations at various points of time in the field of Biotechnology.

Nitin holds an MBA degree from University of Bombay. Earlier he earned his Masters Degree in Pharmaceutical Technology from UDCT, Bombay where his research work led to a patent filing on machine design for manufacture of Novel Drug Delivery Systems. He also completed the Post Graduation Programme in Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Ghent, Belgium.

Mr. Harsh Kaul has been appointed the CEO of SIDBI Venture Capital Fund on April 16, 2009. He was previously with the venture capital division of SIDBI, which largely deals with the fund of funds operations

Ash Lilani is responsible for SVB Global, which consists of SVB's global market activities, and SVB's strategy to promote technology, venture capital, entrepreneurship, banking, and financial solutions to technology and life science companies globally. In addition, Lilani sets the strategy and oversees the operation of SVB's international subsidiaries in London, Bangalore and Shanghai, and future openings in locations including Israel.

Additionally, he is also responsible for SVB's international venture capital and private equity investments along with SVB's international VC banking portfolio. Previously, Lilani served as senior vice president and manager of SVB Silicon Valley Bank's South Bay region, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. In that role, he was responsible for all commercial banking activity in Northern California's South Bay region from January of 2002 until May 2004. During this time, Lilani also served as the country head, India, responsible for the company's network and activities in India. In his ongoing effort to help venture capital clients better understand and leverage India, Lilani led 23 Silicon Valley venture capitalists on a networking and educational expedition to India in November 2003 and another group to China in June 2004.

The trips exposed clients to SVB's connections and clientele in India and China and helped them better understand what it takes to work with Indian and Chinese companies and do business in the regions. In 1997, Lilani opened Silicon Valley Bank's Philadelphia office and managed this and the New York regional offices through 2001. By 2001, under Lilani's leadership, the region had expanded to include coverage of New York, Connecticut, Delaware and New Jersey. Before joining SVB, Lilani held technology-lending positions at Meridian Bank and CoreStates Bank, serving as vice president at both companies.

Lilani co-founded the technology lending practice at Meridian Bank. He is constantly on the speaking circuit in regard to venture and business activities in the global arena and was named one of Silicon Valley's 40 most influential business people under 40 in 2005 by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. Lilani holds a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Bangalore University and has an MBA from Philadelphia University.

Peter is the joint founder and Managing Director of Cleantech AustralAsia, a business established to accelerate the investment in and deployment of clean technologies in the Asia Pacific region. Throughout Peter's 20-year entrepreneurial career, he has worked at the leading edge of the sustainable development agenda and has advised leading corporations, governments and financial institutions. He has designed and run successful Cleantech Finance & Investment Initiatives throughout Asia and has recently completed a major international project for the Asia Pacific Partnership for Clean Development and Climate to develop a Strategic Action plan to increase the investment in and deployment of renewable energy in India.

Peter is also the Fund Advisor of the Sustainable Melbourne Fund where he has pioneered a number of innovative financing models and turnkey solutions for the upgrade and retrofit of commercial buildings. Peter and has held roles including the Sustainability Advisor for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Head of International Business for Melbourne University Private, and National Environmental and Engineering Manager for Dunhill Management Services. Peter is a National Councillor for Environment Business Australia. He is a regular presenter at national and international conferences and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Education in Environmental Studies.
